It’s great to be back with the first of a new batch of Interviews here on my blog. Got some great people lined up for this series and I cannot wait to get to know them more and share them with you, the readers.
One thing I have always believed in is that everyone deserves the chance to have that moment in a spotlight. Forgetting everything else other than the work and efforts they have done on the grid. It’s not just about the mega models, the hottest designers, the people who raise the MOST for charity…it’s about everyone.
I’m happy to kick this off with a model who, In my eyes, has received nowhere near the credit he deserves for some of his accomplishments. I have known Tyler Barineaux for quite a while now, probably right as he was starting out to become a model. He got into it very quickly from what I could see and within a few months was a Mr Virtual World 2011 finalist representing Italy. I know he was super excited about the opportunity and he actually did very well. Since then he has gone on to work in various other areas. Marketing Manager for one of the biggest brands around today, GizzA Creations, a member of the Chic-Management team…and recently made COO of Look Elite Models, where in the next couple of days he shall be producing one of his first major shows! Which means this interview as come at a perfect time
Hope you enjoy this little chat with Tyler, and hope after this you feel you know him and his work better than you did before you opened the link
✦ First of all Tyler thanks for taking the time to do this feature! For those that don’t know of you and your work, can you tell us a little about yourself and what you do?
Thank you for asking me to be here Edi! Well I am a blogger, a model, and try to do a bit of photography for blogging, but that isn’t as successful as the other things I do. I also am the Marketing Manager for GizzA Creations, which I am grateful to be working for such a great brand, as well as working for 2 of the most generous people I’ve ever met, Giz Seorn and auster Elan. Other than that, you know I like to fly planes across the Blake Sea Sims, talk to my friends, and play Greedy!
✦ I have known you for a little while now, probably just before you properly got into modeling. How did you get started with your modeling and why? Did you have any friends that guided you towards it, or was it something you always wanted to do?
- We’ve know each other for a long time! Before I was a model, I hung out with a crowd of models for a while….they had inspired me to want to become part of the world they were in. My first step was enrolling at AVENUE Model’s Academy, which was a great experience for me. Due to RL circumstances I couldn’t make the graduation, so I would join the next batch in their graduation. Sometime before I joined the Mr. Virtual World competition as Mr. V♛ Italy 2011, which really helped my career as a model. I also graduated from AVENUE the day after the main competiton, so it was a busy weekend!
✦ Tell us about LOOK Elite. You are currently COO of the agency. How did that come about, and how have you found it since being appointed that position?
- I took the job as COO of LOOK Elite back in December, stepping for Kay Fairey, who is now CEO of BLVD Agency. I hadn’t been really doing anything at the time as a model, and so the notice was sent one day. It got me thinking, “Could I really do that”? I tried it for the hell of it, and after a long process, I got the job! I’ve met many great people, and LOOK Elite has a great foundation of models to work with.
✦ During your modeling career, what would you say are the top three things you have learned about yourself?
Hmm, that is tough, but I can think of a few things. One thing is that I used to just throw things together to make a look, but now I really like to pay attention to what to put together to make an outfit. Another thing is that I like to challenge myself, a lot…. even though I am not the oldest model, I always want to challenge myself. And lastly, instead of being in the spotlight, I like to be by myself mostly to style, look through flickr, and just IM with my friends….I don’t want to be the center of attention, but I know I am guilty of being that person who tried to steal the spotlight, LOL.
✦ If you could go back and do one thing differently in your Second Life, what would it be and why?
-Changed my shape earlier! I used to have a huge, lunky shape, before I changed in December. It was an average, tan, muscular shape. And one thing I’ve learned since then that you’ll need in this world of Second Life Fashion, is a unique and distinctive shape. A face people will ALWAYS recognize when you step into a room, or take a picture. It is one of the most important traits to have.
✦ This coming Sunday, you have a big show with Look Elite, can you tell us a little bit about the show, who will it feature and why should we go and see it?
- Yes! The show is called ‘ Oscurita ‘, which is ‘Darkness’ in Italian. It will be featuring the latest outfits from [AD] Creations by Aliza Karu. Her outfits really are innovative and creative, they explore every aspect of ‘ Oscurita ‘ that you can think of. This is LOOK Elite’s show in almost a year, and it is back in full force. This will be it’s “comeback” show, with the amazing set built by Tyler Ethaniel, who is also a great friend. It will also be DJ’d by Anubis Darkwatch, who I’ve heard at many fashion shows, and will compliment the show theme well. We plan to restart our “Quick Contests” soon, so keep your eyes out on those notices!
✦ Finally Tyler, this is your chance to plug yourself. Where can people find your work and what does the rest of 2012 hold for you?
- Well, I have been blogging for CHIC Management by Keira Seerose at CHIC-StyleGuide.com and you can find my Flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/tylerbarineaux/. I think 2012 will be a great year in SL for me as well as LOOK Elite. Let’s just hope the world does not end! Thank you for having me Edi. =)
